Matthew is a New York City-based actor, singer, and dancer. He began his stage career at age six, dancing with the New Jersey Ballet Company in The Nutcracker at Paper Mill Playhouse. Since then, he has appeared on regional stages across the country, in countless productions in school, and on screen.
Matthew played Henry in the regional premiere of Disney’s NEWSIES at the historic Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA. He danced in Newsies and Singin’ in the Rain at Maine State Music Theatre in Brunswick, ME, and in The Music Man at the LEXington Theatre Company in Lexington, KY. Previously, he danced in 9 to 5, The Producers, My Fair Lady, and Footloose at Interlakes Summer Theatre in Meredith, NH, and in Oklahoma! and as Jack in Into The Woods at Theatre Workshop of Nantucket in Massachusetts.
At Marymount Manhattan College, he appeared in The Laramie Project at New York Live Arts, as Greg in A Chorus Line, and in the dance ensembles of Kiss Me, Kate and Zelda - a new Frank Wildhorn musical for which he also served as dance captain - and in staged readings of The Cable Car Nymphomaniac and a new Charles Strouse musical. He studied Shakespeare and Restoration styles under John Basil, Wilde and Coward with Kevin Connell, Ibsen and Chekhov with David Mold, American Realism with Richard Niles, contemporary acting with Timothy Johnson, movement, voice & speech with Haila Strauss, Jeff Morrison, and Barbara Adrian, and musical theatre with Bethany Christine Elkin, John Znidarsick, and Patricia Hoag Simon. He studied voice with Matthew Deming and Linda Benanti and dance with Jeff Shade, Dana Moore, and Stephen Harding, among others. He graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and a minor in musical theatre.
Matthew played Raymond in the 2008 film adaptation of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play Doubt. The film was written and directed by Shanley, and starred Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, and Viola Davis; it was nominated for five Academy Awards.
